Fabulous end to the PKRA France event

Apr-28-2011

Leucate, France, April 28th, 2011 – It was a gorgeous day here in La Franqui, France. The sun was shinning this morning and throughout most of the day until it began to rain sporadically near 2:00pm during the beautiful award ceremony, which was held at the event site. The PKRA race director Erik Troostheide shared a few warming words with the crowd stressing how spectacular and successful the event was.

A large number of spectators watched as Youri Zoon (Slingshot, NED) stood proudly on top of the podium grinning from ear to ear with his amusing smile as he received recognition as the men’s freestyle PKRA Mondial du Vent 2011 event champion. Zoon has proved that he is going to be a tough competitor throughout the 2011 PKRA tour season winning 3 consecutive event titles to date. In a recent conversation with one of the official PKRA judges, he states that Zoon competes with world-class style, amazing execution and performs with a great deal of power, speed and a strong degree of technical difficulty. In a brief conversation with Zoon, he stated that “this event was epic, strong wind, sunshine and an event title…perfect!” -Youri Zoon

Spanish rider Alex Pastor (Airush, ESP) positioned himself modestly on the right hand side of Zoon ranking second in this competition followed by a very proud Dominican Republic rider Luis Alberto Cruz (StarKites, DOM) who will be rewarded at home for his outstanding performance here in France stands grandly in third place on the podium. Standing at the top of a podium in first place is a familiar spot for Gisela Pulido (Airush, ESP). From a very young age she has been turning the heads of numerous people from all over the world claiming event titles for her remarkable kiteboarding skills and outstanding drive to win.

Polish rider Karolina Winkowska (Slingshot, POL) situated herself gracefully next to Pulido on the podium claiming second place. Winkowska defines willpower, motivation and effort and the results she obtains are astounding. Standing to the far opposite side of Winkowska is third place contender from Brazil Bruna Kajiya (Flexifoil, BRA). Kajiya has achieved the ultimate goal earning the PKRA Freestyle World Champion title in 2009 and continues to push her performance to higher levels.
